·   ON TIM & “DREAMS”…

In 1993, The Fiendz met producer Tim Gilles.  We showed up at Big Blue Meenie Studios to record a couple of songs for a new 7".  Tim was still running his studio from his home with his 4 golden retrievers (Babby, Cinnamon, Pumpkin and Montana). Tim turned us on to so many cool bands.  We were listening to a lot of old Progressive Rock, like early Genesis, Gentle Giant, Frank Zappa, King Crimson and PFM. Tim totally expanded our listenership and taught us so much about recording and just about life in general.

In 1994, we released the Everybody's Favorite 7" on black and burgundy vinyl.  I can remember the first time Tim mentioned Steely Dan or Todd Rundgren to me--I laughed at him at first and eventually they became some of our favorites.

In 1995, "Dreams" was released which is a collection of songs from that whole time

frame.  I think it's still my favorite record,….most of that record has such a cool vibe to it.

SHHHH!....Ancient Fiendz Secrets!....(given up by Jerry Jones)

·         for the song "Blondie", I stole the riff from Blondie's song "Sunday Girl" and wrote it about about my wife (who also happens to be Blonde)

·         You can also hear my wife on the song "Chubby".  I recorded her singing to me on a cheesy little box and we sampled it and used it.

·         In the beginning of the song "Interim" you can faintly hear someone flipping through a radio dial, and some songs included are: The Dickies, Gentle Giant, ALL, Carl Orff, Elvis Costello, PFM and The Misfits.

·         The intro for "Crimes" has a striking resemblance to the intro of Elvis Costello's song "Crimes of Paris" off his "Blood and Chocolate" album--check it out, but don’t tell anyone...(on second thought, don’t worry about it, I gave Mr. Costello a copy of this album as well).

A GAME FOR YOU : (True Story Told by Jerry Jones)

Back at the time of this record (Dreams), the Fiendz had a "manager".  The "manager" felt that the band should include some "punky-er" songs on the slower-paced record.

Q: Can you tell which 2 songs shouldn’t really have been on Dreams? (Don’t Peak at the answer! You must go back and listen to the entire record from front to back now that you know this!)

A: "Baby Don't Go" and "What Do Ya Wanna Do?"  These 2 songs were just hanging around and they both actually should've been on Fiendz “Fossils” (an album of older songs that hasn't been released yet) but our manager at the time felt that it would be a good idea, and so we went with it.....I wish we never did...oh well.

SOME DREAMS PRESS…

“Truly one of the most diverse, unusual, and compelling records ever to emerge from the pop/punk scene.  Seventeen great songs with tons of flailing vocal arrangements.  Really weird and way beyond cool.  Fuck yeah!  This is colossal". ---BUZZ FACTORY

"This gets really beautiful and I think it's the real radio sureshot." ---POWERBUNNY 4x4

"This is one damn good band." ---JERSEY BEAT
